Now, not that we’re in any way excited, but did you know there are only four weeks until Christmas? In fact, if we’re going to be really specific, in a month’s time the festivities will be over! We’ll all be surrounded by leftover mince pies and lots and lots of cake. Too much? Let’s move on…
In honour of the holiday countdown, we’ve created our own novel way of ticking off the weeks until the 25th- by constructing an advent book wreath! Each friday we’ll be recommending a book suitable for each of the core levels we serve- Early Years, Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2, and Teen, and by Friday 20th December, we’ll have made four wonderful suggestions that we hope you’ll enjoy taking a look at.
…and so without further a due, we present to you the advent book wreath and our first suggestion: Peter Pan in Scarlet by Geraldine McCaughrean!
Peter Pan for us always conjures up memories of Christmas, so Geraldine’s adaptation of the story- proudly boasting to be the only official sequel to J.M. Barrie’s original tale- seemed like an obviously choice for KS2 readers!
Wonderfully illustrated by David Wyatt, the book charts Wendy and the Lost Boys return to Neverland and is a follow up to the story we know and love and should almost certainly be read by the fire on a long winter’s night.
